Guggi was born in Dublin in 1959 and grew up on the
north side of the city. The second eldest of 10 children.
In 1976 when his contemporaries were enrolling in art college,
Guggi and his friends formed the punk/performance band the "Virgin Prunes".
They preformed on the east coast of Amercia and Canada and toured Europe extensively.
Guggi continued to paint during those years and in 1984 parted company
with the band to paint fulltime.
